Rainbow Map of Europe

The ILGA Europe (International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association) have recently published a Rainbow Map of Europe. This map shows the state of equality for LGBT people across all of Europe. This map identifies and focuses on areas such as anti-discrimination laws, legal recognition of same-sex couples and the inclusion of the grounds of sexual orientation

Unfortunately, none of the countries surveyed secured a maximum of 17 points. Britain came out on top with 12.5 points. Sweden and Spain polled joint second, scoring 12 points with Ireland managing to secure 9 points.

A far worse situation lies in Eastern Europe. Countries like Russia, Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova are in the red zone. They do not respect the basic human rights of the LGBT community.

If you would like to have a closer look at the Rainbow Map and Index of all the countries in detail, please visit the ILGA website.
